Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and meet your Altezza Travel representative. Transfer to your hotel for check-in and settle in. Enjoy hotel amenities including cozy rooms, hot water, a swimming pool, and internet access. In the evening, attend a briefing to review your equipment, trekking plan, and safety instructions.
After breakfast, meet your guide and climbing crew, then drive to Umbwe Gate (1,800 m / 5,904 ft) to finalize climbing permits and registration. Begin trekking through dense rainforest to Umbwe Camp (2,850 m / 9,348 ft), covering 11 km (6.8 miles) in 5-7 hours. The trail is steep, so maintain a steady pace. Upon arrival, tents are ready and dinner is prepared. Drink plenty of water and monitor for altitude-related discomfort.
Start early and trek 6 km (3.7 miles) over 4-5 hours to Barranco Camp (3,900 m / 12,792 ft). The rainforest gradually opens into moorlands, offering your first glimpse of Meru Volcano if skies are clear. Barranco Camp is located in a volcanic fault, providing a relaxed afternoon for rest and acclimatization. Lunch and dinner are served by the support crew.
After breakfast, climb the Barranco Wall—a short but rewarding ascent taking about an hour. Pause for photos with Kibo in the background before trekking across ups and downs to Karanga Camp (3,995 m / 13,106 ft), covering 5 km (3.1 miles) over 4-5 hours. After lunch, complete a 2.5 km (1.5 miles) acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp (4,270 m / 14,009 ft) with a 200 m altitude gain before returning to Karanga Camp for dinner.
Trek 6 km (3.7 miles) over 4-5 hours from Karanga Camp to Barafu Summit Camp (4,673 m / 15,327 ft), the base for the night summit. Upon arrival, rest in tents set up by the crew. Later, complete a short acclimatization hike to Kosovo Summit Camp (4,870 m / 15,974 ft) and return to Barafu Camp for dinner and preparation for the summit night. Rest and hydration are crucial.
Depart Barafu Camp around midnight and climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,336 ft). Although the trail is not technically difficult, the high altitude makes the ascent strenuous. Climbers are paired with guides for safety monitoring. After reaching the summit and optionally visiting nearby glaciers, descend to Barafu Camp for a 2-hour rest before continuing down to Millennium Camp (3,950 m / 12,956 ft). The day covers 15 km (9.3 miles) over 8-12 hours.
After breakfast, trek 12 km (7.4 miles) over 4-5 hours through rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 m / 5,379 ft). Celebrate your achievement with the crew and receive your summit certificates. Transfer back to your hotel for rest, showers, and relaxation.
After breakfast, check out of the hotel and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport for your departure. Late check-out is available for evening flights at an extra fee.
