Day 1: Arrival

Arrive at Kilimanjaro International Airport (JRO) and meet your Altezza Travel representative. Transfer to the hotel and settle in. Enjoy comfortable rooms, hot water, a swimming pool, and Internet access. Attend an evening briefing to prepare for the trek.

Day 2: High-Altitude Drop-Off & Trek to Shira 1 Camp

Drive 3–4 hours to Londorossi Gate and complete permits and registration. Continue by vehicle to the drop-off point at 3,600 m (11,811 ft) for stunning views of Shira Plateau. Trek 5 km (3.1 miles) over 1–2 hours with minimal altitude gain to Shira 1 Camp. Tents, chairs, refreshments, and dinner will be ready on arrival.

Day 3: Trek from Shira 1 to Shira 2 Camp

Trek 7 km (4.3 miles) over 3–4 hours to Shira 2 Camp (3,850 m / 12,631 ft) with modest altitude gain. Optionally, ascend Cathedral Peak (3,872 m / 12,703 ft) for spectacular valley views—weather permitting. After lunch and rest, take a 2 km (1.2 miles) acclimatization hike toward Lava Tower (4,270 m / 14,009 ft) for 1–2 hours before returning to camp.

Day 4: Shira 2 to Lava Tower & Descent to Barranco Camp

Hike from Shira 2 Camp to Lava Tower (4,600 m / 15,091 ft) over 6–8 hours and 12 km (7.4 miles), with steep ascents and descents. Lunch is served at Lava Tower to aid acclimatization. Descend to Barranco Camp, home to the famous Barranco Wall, which will be climbed the next day.

Day 5: Barranco Camp to Karanga Camp

After breakfast, climb Barranco Wall (approx. 1 hour). Then hike to Karanga Camp (3,960 m / 12,992 ft) over 4–5 hours and 5 km (3.1 miles) through terrain with multiple ascents and descents. After lunch and rest, take an acclimatization hike toward Barafu Camp with a 200 m (656 ft) altitude gain before returning to Karanga Camp.

Day 6: Karanga Camp to Barafu Camp

Hike 6 km (3.7 miles) over 4–5 hours to Barafu Summit Camp (4,673 m / 15,327 ft), the base for the night summit to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,340 ft). Tents and sleeping bags will be prepared on arrival. Spend the day resting, hydrating, and sleeping in preparation for the midnight ascent.

Day 7: Summit Uhuru Peak & Descent to Millennium Camp

Depart Barafu Camp at midnight with one guide per two climbers. Climb to Uhuru Peak (5,895 m / 19,340 ft). Optionally, walk to nearby glaciers. Descend to Barafu Camp for a 2-hour rest, then continue down to Millennium Camp (3,950 m / 12,956 ft) for overnight.

Day 8: Millennium Camp to Mweka Gate

Descend 12 km (7.4 miles) over 4–5 hours through rainforest to Mweka Gate (1,640 m / 5,379 ft). Celebrate reaching the summit, share your experience in the guestbook, and receive your commemorative certificate. Transfer back to the hotel for rest.

Day 9: Departure

Check out and transfer to Kilimanjaro International Airport. Late check-out is available for evening flights at an extra fee.
