Nyerere National Park

Formerly part of the Selous Game Reserve, Nyerere National Park is Tanzania’s largest national park and one of Africa’s greatest remaining wilderness areas. Located in the country’s southern circuit, it is traversed by the mighty Rufiji River, whose channels, lakes, and sandbanks create lush habitats for hippos, crocodiles, and waterbirds. The park supports large populations of elephants, lions, leopards, giraffes, buffalo, and African wild dogs. Nyerere is renowned for offering diverse safari activities beyond traditional game drives, including boat safaris along the river and guided walking safaris in designated zones.
